Looking past the bleak of winter

the hubs and i were just talking about spring today. he's looking forward to the return of warmer weather. i, on the other hand, am quite enjoying the solitude of this time of year. wrapping myself in sweaters, eating hearty food, sharing laughs over a warm cup of coffee. ahhhhh...2 more months at least of this blustery season.

Queen City

we spent Christmas day wrapped in the love of my hubby's family in charlotte, nc. so upon our departure, we decided, rather I decided, it would be nice to drive through downtown charlotte (known as the queen city) to see the twinkly lights. well due to the heavy fog, there was not much to be seen. this is the view of the buildings towering above, reaching into the fog.

A wee snow bird

such a sweet little bird. he posed just for this photo. and oh, isn't it perfect?

Winter Wonderland

so peaceful, so serene. this, i believe, is the image of perfection. only the sound of birds tweeting and the sun rising. i wish all mornings were like this.

The sweet spot

yes. the softest part of a horse is the nose. velvet to the touch.

My sunset strip

a quiet sunset in our neighborhood. perfect for sipping cider and cozying up close to the hubs.

Winter Wonderland

this Christmas card was bought in 1969 by my mom and dad when they were first married. and so it was given to us this year. i love it!

i think i want to read this.
