2012

the hubs and i watched the ball drop from our couch on new years eve while sipping on fresh, homemade mimosas.

we spent the first day of 2012 eating the typical meal of black eyed peas and greens (grown in my mama's garden, i might add).

i've spent the day thinking of several resolutions i want to make.  as always, i would like to be fit and healthy, drop some weight and feel more confident about myself.

that's what my main focus will be and this year i'm gonna do it!

the hubs and i will (hopefully) be moving into my grandpa's house closer to both our parents by the end of the year.  i'm hoping our house sells and we can be moved by the end of 2012.

there's a lot of work i want to complete before we move in while the house is empty.

i have the kitchen planned out.  we've bought the butcher block countertops and the white farmhouse sink.

we just need to paint the cabinets white and replace some light fixtures.

the master bath will get a total re-do and we've got our work cut out for us.

the Christmas rush is through.

i hope you all had a beautiful holiday.  i know i did.

it was filled with love, warmth, giggles, and special people.

i'm sad to see it end, but an anxious to see where the new year leads.

here's to 2012!

we are so close to Christmas and i am finally ready.

this time of year is so special and brings back so many memories. admittedly, i get stressed about what to give family and often lose sight of the true meaning.  it's a season to deliberately spend time loving the special folks in our lives.  we need more holidays like this, minus the gifts!

our presents are wrapped and under the tree and i'm spending time relaxing with a cup of hot cocoa beside a tree of twinkly lights and warm kitties.

camping in the cold

on one of the first bitterly cold weekends of the season, we went camping.

were we crazy?  not at all.

it was toasty next to the fire and we had bundled ourselves in warm blankets in the tent.

it was the next morning that made us question the whole trip.

waking up to a heavy frost on everything and 27 degrees was not fun.

we got the fire going and that was the only thing that saved us ...and a warm breakfast.

would i do it again?  maybe.

weekend.

i couldn't keep these to myself.  i just had to share.  we are more than half-way through my favorite month and i have been soaking up as much autumn as i possibly can.

the holidays are quickly approaching.
