we are so close to Christmas and i am finally ready.

this time of year is so special and brings back so many memories. admittedly, i get stressed about what to give family and often lose sight of the true meaning.  it's a season to deliberately spend time loving the special folks in our lives.  we need more holidays like this, minus the gifts!

our presents are wrapped and under the tree and i'm spending time relaxing with a cup of hot cocoa beside a tree of twinkly lights and warm kitties.

camping in the cold

on one of the first bitterly cold weekends of the season, we went camping.

were we crazy?  not at all.

it was toasty next to the fire and we had bundled ourselves in warm blankets in the tent.

it was the next morning that made us question the whole trip.

waking up to a heavy frost on everything and 27 degrees was not fun.

we got the fire going and that was the only thing that saved us ...and a warm breakfast.

would i do it again?  maybe.

weekend.

i couldn't keep these to myself.  i just had to share.  we are more than half-way through my favorite month and i have been soaking up as much autumn as i possibly can.

the holidays are quickly approaching.

we spent sunday with the family on top of the world...at sky top orchards.

such a lovely place.

and the perfect thing to do on a lovely fall day.

an end to summer

summer is coming to an end and it's always bittersweet.

i'll miss the way the sun radiates everything.

i'll miss swimming in the lake.

and i'll miss weekend jaunts to charleston.

this weekend the highs will be in the upper 60's.

time for apple pie and scarves!

so the hubs and i have decided to put our house on the market.

we have a family home we are going to move in to once ours sells.  in the meantime, i'm pinning away lots of ideas for a few updates in the new place.  i am in love with this kitchen. 

i've picked out the color to paint the cabinets called fisherman's warf and i've selected white granite countertops.  we found some lovely black twisted wrought iron handles for the cabinet on clearance for 99 cent each!  i could not pass that deal up.

isn't this the most dreamy kitchen?
